Data processing
In summary: Our basis of processing your data is your request to send a message to an Air Cadets unit.
Data is processed for the sole purpose of fulfilling your request to contact the selected Air Cadets unit. Logs of use of the service are maintained for operational reasons and to track and rectify any errors, should there be any that might impact the delivery of your message.
In the terms of the UK GDPR, our legal basis for processing your data is:
- Your implicit consent that we process your data for the purpose of delivery of your message to the Air Cadets unit you have asked selected to contact, i.e. we cannot fulfil your request without processing your data
- Your explicit consent indicated by your checking the GDPR consent checkbox above (mandatory for us to process your request)
- For the performance of the service you are requesting us to fulfil on your behalf, i.e. the delivery of your message to the Air Cadets unit you have asked selected to contact
Like Air Cadets squadrons themselves, this service is volunteer operated and not operated by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD), The Royal Air Force (RAF) or The Air Cadets Organisation (ACO). You may also search for a squadron and apply to 'Join as a cadet' or 'Join as a volunteer' using the Air Cadets
'Find your local squadron' service if you prefer not to use this service.
This service is built, maintained and operated exclusively within the UK. No data is transmitted outside the UK.
Data security
In summary: We follow good 'cyber hygiene' to ensure the security of your data.
Your data is transmitted to this service over an encrypted connection. The service is hosted on our secure server. The TLS (SSL) configuration of this service receives an A+ rating from the well-respected 'SSLLabs website assessment service'. Your message is the transmitted to the selected unit over a high strength encrypted connection, protecting its delivery to the unit. We then employ cyber security measures including configuration of the service and the way the service is built and tested to ensure retained log data is secure. Your message is sent immediately and not retained on the service.
Privacy
In summary: Your message is sent directly to the Air Cadets unit but may be reviewed for abuse monitoring purposes only.
Your message is sent directly to the nominated Air Cadets unit. It is not subject to review or moderation; however, messages sent via this service may be retrospectively scanned for inappropriate content being sent via the service. This abuse check is made to ensure the service is not used to distribute unwanted or inappropriate mail to Air Cadets units. Intelligence built from such abuse reviews may be used to adapt the service controls designed to prevent such abuse from being repeated.
Cookies and tracking
In summary: The service does not use cookies nor employ any form of user tracking.
This site does not set cookies, does not track user behaviour nor use any analytics tool, e.g. Google Analytics, which might set cookies and/or track your behaviour.
External links
In summary: Links to Air Cadets unit websites are provided in good faith but can sometimes fall into the hands of third parties.
This service may provide a link to website associated with an Air Cadets unit. We check that these sites remain active and appropriate, however, we cannot assure that such links do not now lead to 'domain squatted'. These are sites where a unit has abandoned its website and domain name, which has subsequently been purchased by a third party unrelated to the Air Cadets organisation (ACO). We remove all such 'bad links' whenever discovered. This forms a part of our continue data review and update process. You may report these and any other data inaccuracy via the 'Information update' links included on each unit's details page.
